Back-to-school season means the youth groups of Wilton Congregational Church are kicking off once again! All students in grades K-12 have a youth group home at Wilton Congregational. Children and youth are central to the church’s sense of mission and call, so Wilton Congregational is committed to creating space for all God’s children to flourish. Regardless of church affiliation, all kids are invited to participate.

Elementary and middle school groups meet weekly throughout the school year. They gather after school, first for a snack (of course!), and then engage in a faith story through an activity or service project benefiting area partners. The younger groups especially enjoy that the church’s older teens volunteer to help facilitate the program, serving as role models and big siblings in faith.

The high school youth group meets bi-monthly, often on weekends, and features service projects, faith exploration and fellowship activities with old and new friends. All Wilton teens in grades 9-12 are invited and are welcome to bring friends.

A highlight of the high school youth group is the annual service mission trip. The group travels to a part of the country where exciting ministry is already happening and where they can be of service to others through volunteering. Often focused on home repair, past trips have taken the group to San Antonio, TX and Wilmington, NC during the Wilton Public Schools break in February. This year’s trip is headed to Appalachia to partner with the Hinton Rural Life Center in Hayesville, NC. Work teams will help address the needs of community homeowners living in rural poverty as participants live out their faith through service.

Youth group meetings will begin the week of Sept. 16:

  • Elementary Schoolers: Tuesdays (starting Sept. 17)
    • 3rd-5th Grades: Off the bus (Bus 6) from 2:45-3:45 p.m.
    • K-2nd Grades: Off the bus (Bus 32) from 4-5 p.m.
  • Middle Schoolers: Thursdays (starting Sept. 19)
    • 6th-8th Grades: Off the bus (Bus 7) from 3:15-4:30 p.m.
