Wilton Education Foundation (WEF) will host a fundraiser this spring with local portrait photographer Justin Baiad. Wilton families are invited to schedule a mini photo session at Ambler Farm on Saturday, April 12.
“Spring time at Ambler Farm is something we look forward to each year, but especially this year after an extra frigid and long winter. We are really happy to have the support of talented photographer Justin Baiad to kick off our very first family portrait event,” WEF Chairperson Jennifer Carvajal said. “Space is limited, but we hope families will take advantage of Justin’s special pricing for WEF and expertise in capturing his subjects in nature but with a creative flair.”
Organizers said photos will be ready in time for Mother’s Day and suggested now is a perfect time to get ahead of the busy summer and pricier fall season for holiday pictures. Each mini session will take 20-25 minutes and includes a digital gallery of about 15-20 images with professional retouching service. The special rate for the fundraiser is $450 (plus CT sales tax) with 25% of proceeds benefitting WEF, which will support various grants in Wilton Public Schools. A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, April 13.
Wilton Education Foundation sponsors enrichment programs throughout the school year for students PreK-12 that focus on science and technology, music and the arts, and professional development for teachers in the Wilton Public Schools. WEF’s sponsored programs fill the gap that the school budget is unable to provide. Relying solely on volunteers, fundraising events and generous contributions from corporate and private donations, WEF has contributed over $800,000, providing beyond the classroom programs for Miller-Driscoll, Cider Mill, Middlebrook, Wilton High School and Genesis students.
All amounts raised from new and annual fundraisers go towards underwriting programs and sponsorships such as:
- Wilton High School podcast equipment and recording studio
- Miller-Driscoll School MDTV studio
- Upgrades to Cider Mill School‘s LLC and video studio
- all Wilton Public Schools’ makerspaces
- Genesis students and Ambler Farm maple production program
