GOOD Morning Wilton, the Wilton League of Women Voters and Wilton Library will again be hosting two evenings of debates with candidates running in Election 2025 for Wilton’s major municipal boards

On Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m., candidates for the Board of Selectmen will debate, followed by those running for Board of Finance

On Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m., candidates for Board of Education will debate, followed by those running for the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Both evenings will be held at Wilton Library in the Brubeck Room.  They will be live-streamed on GOOD Morning Wilton‘s website, and recorded for later viewing on both GOODMorningWilton.com, and on the Wilton Library website.

The debates on both evenings will follow a Cumulative Time Format and will be moderated by a League of Women Voters-certified, out-of-town moderator who will present questions submitted by the public in written form.

The sessions will provide community members an opportunity to hear from the candidates who seek to serve on Wilton’s volunteer boards and commissions and make critical decisions facing the town in the coming years; and to pose questions to those candidates that will highlight their goals and priorities

The League is now collecting voter questions for the candidates. Voters can let the candidates know what questions and issues are on their minds as they face our upcoming election. As in prior years, questions are being accepted in advance submitted via email by 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13. Include a name and address with each question.

The LWV will also be taking written questions from the floor of the Brubeck Room on the evenings of both debates.

As in prior years, the League of Women Voters has established specific guidelines for submitting questions:

  • anonymous emails will not be accepted
  • only one question can be submitted per email
  • all questions must be applicable to all candidates and pertinent to local issues relevant to the board for which they’re running
  • questions targeted at one specific candidate will not be accepted.

Questions will be screened for legibility and duplication, and may be combined with other questions or condensed. All live-audience questions are subject to the same rules and must be submitted in writing.

The LWV is a nonpartisan organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

Registration is required to attend the event in-person; register online or call 203.762.6334. For more information, email the Wilton League of Women Voters
