Wilton Emergency Management has opened warming centers and is following the state’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol following Gov. Ned Lamont‘s announcement on Thursday, Dec. 4, that Connecticut will experience a blast of arctic temperatures averaging 10-20 degrees below normal over the next several days.

The directive is in effect as of Thursday, Dec. 4through Tuesday, Dec. 9, at noon. This is the first time this season that the protocol has been activated.

In Wilton, warming centers will be open at:

  • Comstock Community Center (180 School Rd.): Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m.  and Saturday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Wilton YMCA  (404 Danbury Rd.): Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Wilton Library (137 Ridgefield Rd.): Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m.

Anyone in need of shelter can call 2-1-1 to get connected to these services or visit 211ct.org to view a list of locations; or reach out to Wilton Social Services at 203.834.6238.
