Wilton Pride and Wilton Library will present the Second Annual Come Out & Run 5K as what they said is a “celebration of Pride and the spirit of unity in honor of National Coming Out Day in October.”
The event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 14, in Wilton Center.
All members of the public are welcome to join this community-wide, family-friendly event fostering camaraderie, empowerment, and support for the LGBTQ+ community members and allies. Part 5K and part community party, the event will feature music, festivities, food, flair, prizes and more.
“The Come Out & Run 5K embodies the true spirit of inclusivity through running. We don’t care how fast you are or where you’re from — your presence is what truly matters. This event is a joyful celebration of Pride and community, built on the foundation of cheering each other on and mutual support,” Wilton Pride Board Member Nikki Sherman said.
“We were so thrilled by the success of last year’s race,” Wilton Library Executive Director Caroline Mandler said. “We had more than 250 runners join us for this incredible community event, and expect this year to be even bigger. Wilton Library is honored to continue to co-sponsor this event and we encourage everyone to come celebrate with us in September.”
This year, the 5K will also be one of the featured events as part of the Wilton Youth Council-led Wilton Coalition for Youth’s #Wiltoniswhereyoubelong campaign. This collaboration aims to cultivate a stronger sense of belonging and promote inclusivity for all Wilton residents, regardless of background, race, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
