Wilton’s Registrars of Voters will be hosting National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, Sept. 16. Wilton residents who are legally eligible to vote but are not yet registered are invited to come to Town Hall (238 Danbury Rd.) to the Registrars’ Office on that day, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. to register in person.
To be eligible to vote in Connecticut, a person must:
- be a United States citizen
- be resident of a Connecticut town
- be at least 17 years of age (as long as the person will turn 18 years of age by Election Day)
- have completed confinement and parole, if previously convicted of a felony
Registrars Annalisa Stravato and Karen Birck said that it helps to have paperwork in order to register. Documents and information that may be required and/or helpful include:
- A Connecticut driver’s license or state-issued non-driver ID
- Date of birth.
- The last four digits of a Social Security number/Social Security card
- A valid photo ID or a document showing name and address, like a utility bill or bank statement
- A paycheck, government document or recent passport
