Fairy tales do come true at the Wilton Playshop when its next highly anticipated production, Stephen Sondheim’s Into The Woods, opens on Friday, Apr. 25. This beloved musical will run through Saturday, May 10, and promises to captivate audiences with its enchanting mix of classic fairy tale characters, witty lyrics, and thought-provoking themes.
Into The Woods brings together iconic figures from popular fairy tales — Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk), and the Baker and his Wife — who embark on a magical journey in pursuit of their wishes. However, as the story unfolds, the consequences of their desires and the complexities of their lives begin to intersect in unexpected and sometimes darker ways.
The production will feature a talented cast of local actors, a live orchestra, and the high-quality production values that the Wilton Playshop audiences have come to expect. With its captivating storytelling, stunning music, and memorable characters, Into The Woods offers a delightful yet thought-provoking experience for theatergoers of all ages.
The show is directed by Skip Ploss, with music direction by Andrew Gadwah and choreography by Jessica Rae Foulds. It is being produced by Jennifer Kepner and Nina DePeugh and stage managed by Laura Ploss and Marie Demasi.
