The Wilton community will come together in style on Thursday, Oct. 23, for an exciting, student-led evening at the #WiltonIsWhereYouBelong Fashion Show and Fundraiser.
This first-of-its-kind event will raise funds for the Launch Your Life scholarships, designed to empower Wilton students with diverse needs. These scholarships provide crucial financial support for post-high school opportunities, including post secondary education, vocational training, independent living resources, and other pathways that help students transition into adulthood with confidence.
Donations to this scholarship can be made online.
The evening will feature runway presentations styled by the Wilton Turnover Shop, with student models from Middlebrook School, Wilton High School, the Community Steps Program and the wider Wilton community.
Presented in collaboration with the Wilton Community Steps Program, Wilton Pride, Wilton SEPTA, Middlebrook School and Wilton High School, the fashion show will celebrate creativity, community and inclusion. A highlight of the evening will be students with neurodiverse profiles walking on the catwalk alongside their peer mentors.
Wilton SEPTA is Wilton Public Schools (WPS) Specialized Education and Support Services Parent Teacher Association, which supports students with diverse learning needs, families and staff throughout the district. Community Steps is a WPS transition program that supports students with diverse learning profiles in post-secondary planning, vocational skills, independence and meaningful community connections
Organizers are inviting the public and supporters of fashion, education and community to what promises to be a memorable night. Attendees are invited to “dress to impress, bring your spirit, and help us make a difference.”
“This event represents our commitment to inclusivity for all students in Wilton Public Schools and Wilton Community, and our belief that every student graduating from Wilton High School deserves a future filled with dignity and choice. It is an event sure to bring a smile to your face,” Assistant Superintendent of Support Services Melissa Barrett said.
The #WiltonIsWhereYouBelong campaign was started by the Wilton Coalition for Youth to cultivate a stronger sense of belonging and promote inclusivity for all Wilton residents, regardless of background, race, religion, gender or sexual orientation and strengthens a sense of belonging and inclusivity for all Wilton residents.
The event will be held in the Wilton High School Field House (395 Danbury Rd.). Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the fashion show will begin at 7 p.m. There will be light fare and beverages as well as a paddle raise and auction. Special celebrity guest Anna Zap from STAR 99.9 will emcee the event.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online.
