The Wilton branch of the Riverbrook Regional YMCA Gymnastics Center opened its doors on Sunday, Oct. 27 to welcome friends and family members to Fright Fest — a Halloween-themed meet that kicked off the 2024-2025 season for its athletes. The Wilton YMCA Gymnastics Team was joined by two other teams from New York and Rhode Island for a day full of costumes and competition.
Across all four events — bars, beam, floor and vault –— gymnasts from the Wilton YMCA Team won individual titles and five of the skill levels placed as a Team.
“The coaches at the Wilton YMCA Gymnastics Center are all very impressed by the strong start to the season that our competitive athletes had,” Program Director Victoria Bronson said. “These girls have been training for countless hours and really brought their all to the competition. Most importantly, they showed strong team camaraderie and great sportsmanship throughout the meet, and for that I am very proud.”
The Wilton Gymnastics Center has recently expanded its competition team to include an Xcel program. Fright Fest was the first time these Xcel athletes competed together representing Wilton at a home meet.
