Wilton Youth Council (WYC) is holding an inaugural “Dads and Doughnuts” event, set to take place on Sunday, Nov. 17, from 9-11 a.m. at Allen’s Meadow, Field 4. This community gathering aims to foster meaningful connections among fathers while providing children the freedom to play in a supportive environment.
In a press release, WYC officials said that opportunities for unstructured play are becoming increasingly rare for children in today’s fast-paced world. Dads and Doughnuts seeks to create a joyful space for kids to play and dads to enjoy good conversation with each other, all while enjoying delicious doughnuts and coffee from Wilton’s own Rise Doughnuts.
Wilton Youth Council Board Member Doug Schneider noted that the concept of Dads and Doughnuts is simple yet profound: to provide a refreshing departure from structured schedules, allowing families to reconnect with what truly matters — quality time and community spirit.
“Between work, school, sports, dance recitals and other extracurricular activities, we all have busy schedules,” Schneider said. “This event is a chance for dads to connect with each other while their children engage in free play — an essential part of their development.”
Wilton Youth Council members hope families from the Wilton community will join in the fun to “celebrate [together] the joys of fatherhood and childhood in a relaxed and welcoming environment.”
Community members who want more information about the event or would like to get involved can contact Schneider at 917.270.5263 or via email.
