The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Wilton, in effect from noon on Saturday, Feb. 15, to 7 a.m. EST on Sunday, Feb. 16. Mixed precipitation is expected with snow followed by freezing rain. The NWS predicts total snow accumulations of 2-5 inches and up to 0.2 inches of ice accumulations for Wilton and portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and southeast New York.
Similar advisories have been issued throughout the tri-state area and further north along the eastern seaboard.
Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions. Officials say to slow down and use caution while traveling, and to check the local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road conditions.
Anyone going outside should take care on stairs, sidewalks, driveways and any other surfaces that could be icy and slippery with an increased risk of falls and injury.
