Following publication this morning of GOOD Morning Wilton’s exclusive story about discussions between parties on both sides of the AROD debate and 183 Ridgefield Rd., Wilton’s first selectman Lynne Vanderslice issued the following statement:

“The Town was not part of any meeting or discussions held between Jim Fieber and residents of Ridgefield Rd.. The Board of Selectmen has not discussed a proposal to purchase the land for $3 million. For my part, I have always encouraged individuals to privately fundraise to preserve the property.

“The Town has repeatedly encouraged dialogue between the two parties to avoid the Town’s associated ongoing legal costs and reduce the divisiveness of the situation.”

Debate among residents has sprung on GMW‘s Facebook page, with more comments unhappy about any kind of potential solution passing costs on to residents or resulting in increased taxes.
