The 2024 Election season is underway, and on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, Wilton will go to the polls to cast votes for U.S. President and Vice President, U.S. Senator and U.S. Representative, and State Senator and State Representative. The Registrars of Voters are the only municipal candidates on the ballot this year.
Each year we publish our policies regarding editorial coverage and advertising for the weeks leading up to the elections. We share these policies to be completely transparent about how GOOD Morning Wilton makes sure to be fair, open and available to the candidates, campaigns and, most importantly, the public.
Elections are vital — they’re arguably the single most important part of our democracy, especially when you strip away partisanship, rhetoric and divisiveness.
This is GOOD Morning Wilton‘s 11th year covering elections. Our approach has been developed and strengthened over the last decade-plus, and in this post, we’ve clearly laid out our policies and guidelines for how we’ll cover the elections and work with the candidates and campaigns — and, perhaps most importantly, share what readers need to know in order to participate.
As always, our interest is hyper-local. We focus our coverage on candidates and issues directly impacting Wilton. Information is plentiful elsewhere on the Presidential race, and really even for the campaigns of our U.S. Congressional legislators. We’ll concentrate mainly on candidates running to represent Wilton in the Connecticut State Legislature and anything related to the campaigns in Wilton.
There are multiple ways for residents to take part in the election process, ranging from writing letters to the editor to simply reading what we publish to learn about and closely follow the issues. We’ll be soliciting questions you want to ask candidates as well, and making sure that we find out and report on everything you need to know to make educated decisions.
