As I take office this week I bring with me the same energy and enthusiasm I had when I spoke with many of you throughout the campaign. I am anxious to work on the ideas we discussed.
Two frequent themes were the desire for more Wilton based activities and an increased vibrancy for Wilton businesses and shops. This weekend provides many options for you to spend your weekend within Wilton while also supporting local businesses and nonprofits.
Begin by attending Friday’s Downtown Holiday Stroll. In a break with tradition, this year at 5:30 p.m., Santa will arrive accompanied by the co-captains of the Wilton Girls Field Hockey State Championship Team, Jillian Mahon and Amanda Hendry. I’ll be on the Town Green with the other team members anxiously awaiting their arrival. Please join us. Cheer the champions, help count down the lighting of the tree, share your wishes with Santa, stroll the newly decorated downtown and visit the shops and businesses. Shops and businesses are welcoming strollers with refreshments. Show your appreciation by also being a shopper.
On Saturday, stay in Wilton to participate in the Wilton Art’s Council’s Holiday Crafts at the Library or pick up holiday greens at Ambler Farm or shop the Library Book Sale. In the evening take in a performance of The 12 Days of Christmas at the Wilton Playshop or enjoy the Wilton Holiday Singers at WEPCO or help out the Wilton Food Pantry and the Connecticut Food Bank by attending the Wilton Rocks for Food benefit at Trackside. Augment your day or evening with local shopping or dining.
On Sunday come back downtown to the “Stuff A Cruiser” event sponsored by the Wilton Police and Fire Departments, featuring refreshments and music from the Wilton High School band. End your weekend back on the Town Green at the Lighting of the Menorah Celebration at 5 p.m.. Enjoy the live music and treats.
During this holiday season, show off what Wilton has to offer. Invite a friend from a neighboring town to join you as you shop and dine locally. We can all do our part.
See you this weekend!
