Sunday, Feb. 5, 10:45 a.m.–This morning a car was discovered atop a stone wall on Raymond Ln., damaged and abandoned after an apparent overnight, single-car crash. A Wilton resident sent GOOD Morning Wilton these photos taken Sunday morning after discovering the accident scene.

Wilton Police dispatch reports receiving several calls about the vehicle this morning. GMW has emailed police officials for any further information; we’ll update as soon as we hear back from the public information officer.

UPDATE: 11:30 a.m.–Wilton Police confirm they’re investigating this as a one car motor vehicle accident. According to Lt. Rob Cipolla, “Our officers have the information necessary to follow-up on the investigation. Any witnesses to the actual accident are encouraged to contact us.”

UPDATE:  Monday, Feb. 6–Wilton Police arrested 27-year-old Diego Armando Velez-Lopez, of Stamford, on Sunday afternoon, and charged him with evading responsibility and failure to maintain lane. Police say Velez-Lopez told them a deer entered the roadway, which he said caused him to swerve and run off the roadway, and striking a rock wall alongside Raymond Ln.. The accident reportedly occurred at 6:54 a.m..

Velez-Lopez has a scheduled court date on Feb. 15.
