Winter always means it’s time for Ambler Farm‘s very popular Tap-a-Tree Maple Syrup Program and the Valentine’s Tea. The farm has begun registration for both–but you need to be a member for one of them to get a jump on taking part.
Tap-a-Tree Maple Syrup Program
Learn the science and history of maple syruping by being a hands-on part of the process. There will be two training sessions offered–Saturday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m.; only ONE session is required for training. On that day families will choose a tree and hang a sap-collecting bucket. Ambler Farm will send regular updates on the running of the sap so families will know when to come to the Farm to collect sap from their tree. Sap will be boiled down in the Ambler Farm sugar shack, and each family will go home with their very own bottle of Ambler Farm maple syrup.
The season runs from early February to mid-March. Maple syrup production is winter farming and, therefore, weather dependent. A typical season is five weeks long. If you are traveling during February or March, Ambler Farm will collect sap for you.
Enrollment limited to 110 families. This program has sold out quickly in previous years, so families are encouraged to not wait to sign up. The number of trees at the farm is limited, so they are unable to accommodate late requests or wait lists. Online registration is currently open for Ambler Farm members at $60 per family; registration will open to non-members on Tuesday, Jan. 17 (space permitting) at $65 per family.
Families that register but cannot attend either orientation are asked to email Ambler Farm.
Valentine’s Tea
Spend a cozy afternoon with your little Valentine at Ambler Farm’s annual Tea. Enjoy platters of delicious sandwiches and sweets galore, and have fun making a craft to take home. The Tea is a popular event and sells out quickly, so people interested in attending are encouraged to reserve a spot soon.
The Valentine’s Tea will be held Sunday, Feb. 12, from 2-4 p.m.. The cost to attend is $20 per adult and $10 per child. Registration is now open online for both members and non-members.
