In a late night email Wednesday evening to customers, Bella & Co. owner Isabelle Bell let Wilton know that she had decided to close the store permanently. Bell announced the store’s final day will be August 31.

Personally, it’s important to note that I’ve always been a fan of the store from the first moment two years ago when I wandered in to see what the charming store in Cannondale Village carried, and stayed for an hour and a half talking to the warm, incredibly personable Bell. Always direct and amazingly connected with her customers no matter if they were first-time visitors or regulars, Bell created a retail environment that showcased meaningful and spiritual products as well as unique finds.

She will be missed as a fixture on the town’s retail scene as well as a personal friend.

Here’s the content of the email Bell sent to customers on Wednesday:

I hope you are enjoying your summer with family and friends.

I love the summer it always reminds me of new beginnings, new journeys.  I guess its because I always seem to be moving somewhere new during the summer, the excitement of the unknown.

My daughter Kate just graduated from Wilton High School and starts her new journey as she leaves for college in August.

Which got me thinking maybe it’s time for a new journey for me.  I have decided to close Bella & Co and move to  Cape Cod while I ponder what my next journey should be.

I will miss you all,  the great conversations we had, the highs and lows you have shared with me. I will forever be touched, and  can honestly say I didn’t have customers I had friends. Thank you…

Everything in the store will be 50-percent off starting Saturday July 19, the last day will be August 31.

Thank you again for supporting Bella & Co these last 4 years. I will truly miss everyone who changed my life through the store.

Cheers,

Isabelle
