An assistant principal at a Ridgefield elementary school will be the new assistant principal at Miller-Driscoll Elementary School, Wilton district officials announced Thursday.

Caitlin Walsh, now the assistant principal at Barlow Mountain Elementary School, will begin her new position in Wilton on July 1. She was introduced to the Wilton Board of Education at its meeting Thursday, Apr. 23 by Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and General Administration Maria Coleman.

Coleman said Walsh comes to the district with 24 years in education, beginning as a classroom teacher at Greens Farms Elementary School in Westport. From there, Walsh was a classroom teacher and coach in Monroe before heading back to the Westport public schools as a math coach.

She became Barlow Mountain’s assistant principal in 2024.

“One of the things that came through just so clearly was how student-centered Caitlin is, and her warmth, and her passion for the work, and her commitment to students and families. And so we’re very excited to have her on board,” Coleman told school board members.

Miller Driscoll Principal Kathy Coon said Walsh’s intelligence stood out to those interviewing her for the position.

“She’s so incredibly intelligent,” Coon said. “She exuded positivity. She was incredibly poised.”

Coon agreed with Coleman that Walsh’s student-centered approach will be a great fit.

“What sealed the deal for us was, she’s so warm, so student-centered, wants to support the staff, and wants to get to know parents,” Coon said. “So, those were things that just brought it home.”

Walsh thanked the interview committee for making her feel welcome throughout the process.

“I’m incredibly excited to be here,” she said.

Board of Education Chair Ruth DeLuca also welcomed Walsh into the community.

“We’re really excited to have you partner with us,” DeLuca said.

Janean Carley was the assistant principal at Miller-Driscoll, but was appointed interim principal of Cider Mill School after the departure of Dr. Jennifer Falcone, who left the position to take the job as director of elementary education for the Darien public schools last year.

Abby Cass was the part-time assistant principal at Miller-Driscoll, but served full time for the 2025-26 school year. She will go back to part time in the fall, according to Superintendent Kevin Smith.
