Wilton Pride and Wilton Library are inviting the Wilton community to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and Pride at the Second Annual “Be You” Wilton Pride Festival.

Gearing up for another event, organizers have invited student artists to participate in creating the official logo for this year’s festival. Entrant’s artwork could become the iconic symbol that represents the community’s spirit of acceptance and love, they say.

The “Be You” Wilton Pride Festival is a vibrant celebration of LGBTQ+ pride and community in the heart of Wilton. The festival aims to foster a safe and inclusive environment where individuals of all identities can come together to celebrate diversity, advocate for equality, and showcase the tapestry of LGBTQ+ culture in Wilton.

“This year we want to engage with youth artists and create an opportunity for expression,” Wilton Pride President and co-founder Farah Masani said. “The library continues to be a pillar of support and collaboration as we plan the ‘Call for Artwork’.”

“This contest is a great chance for teens to express themselves creatively while celebrating our second Wilton Pride Festival,” Wilton Library Head of Teen Services Valmai Hanson said. “We look forward to seeing their submissions!”

The Campaign

Call to Artists: Calling all artists, designers and creatives to submit their original artwork for consideration as the official logo of the Second Annual “Be You” Wilton Pride Festival. Unique perspectives and creative expressions are welcomed.

Theme: This year, organizers encourage submissions that capture the theme of “Unity in Diversity.” Artwork should reflect the diverse spectrum of identities within the LGBTQ+ community and convey a sense of unity, solidarity, and pride including the words BE YOU.

Submission Guidelines:

  • No offensive symbols, words or depictions can be used.
  • Artists may submit up to three entries.
  • Submissions must be accompanied by a brief artist statement explaining the inspiration behind the artwork and an artist headshot.

Deadline and Submission Process: The deadline for submissions is Sunday, March 31. Artists should submit their entries via email with the subject line “Be You Wilton Pride Festival Logo Submission.” Please include a name, contact information, headshot and artist statement with any submission.

Selection Process: A panel of judges composed of members of the Be You Wilton Pride Festival organizing committee and representatives from Wilton Library will review all submissions. The selected artwork will be announced on Monday, April 1 and featured prominently in all festival promotional materials.

Recognition and Prizes: The winning artist will receive recognition and exposure as the creator of the official logo for the Second Annual “Be You” Wilton Pride Festival. In addition to recognition, the winning artist will receive a $500 prize.

Spread the Word: Help organizers spread the word by sharing this call for artwork with networks and on social media platforms.

“Be part of something special and leave your mark on the second annual ‘Be You’ Wilton Pride Festival,” Masani said. “Your artwork has the power to inspire, unite, and celebrate the beautiful diversity of our community. We can’t wait to see your creativity shine!”
