The beginning of fall means back to school, a new sports season, color-changing leaves and, this Sunday, Sept. 30, the return of Wilton’s favorite fall celebration, Ambler Farm Day!

Ambler Farm will hold its signature event, the 18th Annual Ambler Farm Day, on Sunday from 12-4 p.m.. Families from Wilton and beyond are invited to enjoy the apple slingshot, visiting with farm animals, make-your-own-scarecrow, hay rides, trebuchet (aka “punkin chucker”), children’s crafts, pumpkin patch, live music, delicious homemade apple pies and baked goods, and more!

Of course, organizers marshall an army of help from loyal volunteers in preparation for the event. In fact, there are still opportunities for pitching in to make Ambler Farm Day a success.

  • Have any leftover lids from takeout? The children’s craft chair is looking for number 6 only take out containers. They need to be washed and dried with no cracks in the center section. Donations may be put into the bin outside the White Carriage Barn. What a great way to reuse and recycle!
  • Volunteers are needed for the big day! Anyone interested in volunteering, either the day of the event or prior, can Sign Up Here online.
  • Love to bake? Donate a home-baked pie (apple, fruit or pumpkin are preferred) to the Ambler Farm Day Pie Stand. Or, help stock the Bake Sale, which needs homemade desserts–cookies, cupcakes, brownies, candy or caramel apples, fresh breads and muffins are popular; wrapped to sell and please indicate if nuts are included. Drop off at the farm on Saturday, Sept. 29, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Ambler Farm Carriage Barn, or curbside the day of the event 10-10:30 a.m..

Ambler Farm Day is also one of the biggest fundraisers for the Farm, so as you walk around enjoying the apple slingshot, as your kids navigate the hay maze, as your family builds its scarecrow, and as you enjoy that volunteer-baked apple pie after your salad overflowing with Ambler Farm-grown vegetables, remember what Ambler Farm give the whole community.

The event happens rain or shine. Parking and entrance fee is $20 per car/family ($10 for senior citizens). Parking is limited, and spillover parking is at Cannondale Train Station (with a free shuttle to the farm). All proceeds benefit Ambler Farm.

Ambler Farm is located at 257 Hurlbutt St..

GOOD Morning Wilton is pleased to once again be a sponsor of Ambler Farm Day, along with the Montessori School, Ryan Cornell/William Pitt Sotheby’s, Fairfield County Bank, Wilton Hardware, Realty 7, Lee Horticultural Services, Mills & Mills Insurance, Bayer & Black, and Durant Party Rentals.
