The second annual Wilton Kiwanis Oktoberfest is happening Sunday, Sept. 17 from 4-9 p.m. (rain or shine). The event is tailored for the whole family, with food and fun events for adults as well as children.

Oktoberfest is being held at the Kiwanis Pavilion at the Wilton Family Y.

“All of the profit from Oktoberfest goes to worthy youth community programs, but there is another reason why the Kiwanis invest so much of our time and resources to make it a success, says Jack McFadden, Kiwanis Club vice president. “Like our Pancake Breakfast for Memorial Day, Oktoberfest is a labor of love as a community celebration. It’s part of what makes Wilton special.”

The Kiwanis Club has made sure there will be authentic German music, provided by Alpine Squeeze, a German Oom-Pah band. It wouldn’t be Oktoberfest without German Biers, and two will be offered, plus wine, water and soft drinks; they’ll accompany Bratwurst, chicken, sauerkraut, German potato salad, and more (plus hot dogs and French fries for kids). Activities for children include a bounce house and a supervised play area.

The entry fee is $15 for anyone 21-and-over, and free for those under 21. Visit the Wilton Kiwanis Oktoberfest website to preorder food and save with specials on platters and kids’ meals.

Wearing of lederhosen and dirndls is encouraged!
