Don’t get scared but the Wilton Chamber of Commerce Scarecrow Fest is planning a return to Wilton Center in October.

In cooperation with Trackside Teen Center, the Town of Wilton, the Parks and Recreation Department and the Department of Public Works, the scarecrow fest will run from Friday, Oct. 19 through Wednesday, Oct. 31.

“The scarecrows really add to the fall festive spirit in town and help make the village come alive,” said Debra Hanson, executive director of the Chamber. “The scarecrow fest enhances our Halloween Walk and Trick or Treat Pumpkin Parade, Halloween Hustle 5K and Scarecrow Scamper for kids.”

The Town of Wilton will produce a Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, Oct. 20. This year’s Halloween Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27; the Halloween Hustle 5K will be held Sunday, Oct. 28.

The Chamber provides a scarecrow kit, which includes the wooden post frame and hay to build the scarecrow, for a cost of $35. Registration and payment must be received by the chamber by Saturday, Sept. 29. Kits may be picked up from Thursday, Oct. 4 through Friday, Oct. 5 at Trackside (15 Station Rd.), from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. only. For more information or to register and purchase a scarecrow kit, stop by the Chamber of Commerce office (86 Old Ridgefield Rd.)visit the Wilton Chamber website or contact the chamber office via email or by calling 203.762.0567.

Finished scarecrows must be delivered to Trackside on Tuesday, Oct. 16 or Wednesday, Oct. 17 only, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.. The scarecrows will be put up in the center of town on Friday, Oct. 19, where they will remain through Halloween.
