Competition cheer season is under way and once again, Wilton High School will play host to the FCIAC Cheer Competition, this weekend. Teams including both varsity and youth will perform and compete Saturday, Feb. 3. Doors open at 10 a.m., the competition begins at 11 a.m., and awards will be given at 2 p.m.. All activities take place in the WHS Field House (395 Danbury Rd.).

At the varsity level there are 16 teams competing; in addition there will be exhibition performances by three youth/middle school squads and one unified team. WHS varsity cheerleaders will take the mat around 11:20 a.m., and the Wilton Youth Cheerleading squad will perform around 1 p.m..

The public is invited to watch and cheer on the Warrior teams. Organizers say it’s a great way for younger cheerleaders to see what competition cheer is all about. Admission to the event is $10 for adults, $5 for students and children aged 5-and-under are free.

Spectators are encouraged to wear blue.
