Cider Mill School is looking to fill some lunch aide positions, and they’re hoping to find members of the Wilton community who might be interested in the job.
“It’s really a great opportunity for someone to work a few hours in the middle of the day, for someone who likes to work with kids. And it’s essential for the workings of the school,” said Cider Mill assistant principal Catherine O’Keefe.
Lunch aides oversee the students in the lunchroom and outside during recess. The hours are from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday through Friday. According to O’Keefe, the pay is competitive. The job doesn’t require previous experience, and there will be training for individuals who are hired, including in areas of safety, security and working with children with special needs, among other elements. Individuals who are hired will have to go through some security screening, including background checks and fingerprinting.
“It’s a great way to see a smattering of school life,” O’Keefe added, noting that the aides get the opportunity to be assigned to specific areas and really get to know the children with whom they work. “We’ve had retirees or stay-at-home parents who had worked with us and it’s something they really enjoy,” she said.
Anyone interested in applying should contact the Cider Mill main office at 203.762.3351.
