The Wilton Conservation Commission has issued a call to action for Wilton’s Annual Townwide Cleanup Day, on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Residents are invited to volunteer to help in the town’s annual spring cleanup.
Volunteers can will meet at the Gazebo on the Town Green to receive work gloves and trash bags, and then head out with their fellow Wiltonians to pick up litter along Wilton’s roadways and the banks of the Norwalk River. All ages are welcome.
“I encourage our Wilton families, friends and neighbors to join the Conservation Commission in its 26th Annual Townwide Cleanup Day. This town beautification activity, that promotes a cleaner environment, is a great way to meet your neighbors. Your involvement will send a positive message, as well as model responsible environmental stewardship for youths; it says that our environment is a priority in helping to create a healthier community. I hope to meet you personally on April 6!” First Selectman Toni Boucher said.
All work materials and dumpsters are provided by the Wilton Conservation Commission. Wilton Hardware and Wilton Kiwanis have both donated to the Townwide Cleanup Day raffle.
Volunteers who collect a full garbage bag of litter and bring it to the Town Green for disposal will be eligible to enter the raffle, which will be drawn promptly at noon during the cleanup event (participants must be present to win). Each volunteer will receive a coupon for one free slice of cheese pizza from Pinocchio Pizza.
The cleanup is a rain-or-shine event.
