Steve Pierce, director of Wilton’s Parks and Recreation Department, announced that the Wilton High School Stadium track and field will be closed beginning this Friday, July 13, as scheduled installation of the new artificial turf field begins.

The turf renovation was a capital improvement project approved by residents at the town meeting in May.

According to Pierce’s notification, the track and field is scheduled to re-open in early August. Officials have said that the vendor that is installing the new field has assured them that the field will be ready for fall sports, including practices for the football team.

  1. As long as it is ready for field hockey. That’s the only Fall team that had any success on the old turf. We should get a new football coach to go with the new turf.
