In her nightly update to Wilton residents on the response to the COVID-19 health crisis, First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice shed some light on some of the reporting issues the town faces from inconsistent or incomplete data it receives from the CT Department of Public Health.
Vanderslice has spoken before about discrepancies in case counts between the Wilton Health Department and state health officials, of cases reported to Wilton’s health director that aren’t on state reports, and of corrections to month’s old data.
Yesterday, Monday, Aug. 31, was one such case in point. “The CT DPH report as of 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, included corrections to among others, Wilton cases and county deaths. The report reflected a one case decrease in Wilton cases but did not provide details,” Vanderslice wrote.
Even more frustrating, Vanderslice said that over the past weekend, Wilton’s Health Department received a report of another new case. Based on information received by the Wilton Health Department, there have been three new cases since Thursday, Aug. 27.
The inconsistencies are accompanied by changing and incomplete data from the state. Yesterday showed the case count to go down, despite a new confirmed case being added last week, and Vanderslice wrote that the state “did not provide details” on why it adjusted the tally. The total case count for Wilton is now 248.
