Dave Clune Platform [OPINION]
As part of GOOD Morning Wilton‘s coverage of the elections for the 2019 municipal elections, we have set out guidelines inviting each unaffiliated/petition campaign and town committee to submit an op-ed piece for the Special Election 2019 Voter’s Guide. Dave Clune is an unaffiliated petition candidate for the Board of Selectmen.
Having grown-up in Wilton and returned to raise my own family in 2003, I am excited to run and volunteer my time for a second term, as an unaffiliated candidate, on the Board of Selectmen.
Over the past four years, the Board of Selectmen has worked hard, and collaboratively, to maintain and improve the level of service and amenities residents enjoy while reducing costs. This has been done through increased use of technology, shared services within town and prudent planning for the future.
As a member of the Board of Selectmen I chaired a Legal Search Committee resulting in the hiring of new Town Counsel; was appointed second selectman; participate in Parks & Recreation Commission meetings as an ex-officio member and worked with First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice to achieve a reasonable pathway for unaffiliated or minor party residents to participate in town government–increased participation and diverse views makes Wilton better.
Having attended Driscoll, Cider Mill, Middlebrook and Wilton High School I benefited from superb teachers who instilled a lifelong love for learning.
After graduating from Wilton High School, I went to Boston College where I met my wife Robin.
My experiences as a medical mission coordinator with Operation Smile; an Assistant District Attorney with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office; in private law practice and my current role as Chief Operating Officer for the Legal Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York provide a unique combination that serves the Town well when considering the legislative, financial and operational opportunities in front of the Board of Selectmen.
Wilton is a great place to learn, live, work and play. I look forward to continuing to participate in our community and ask that you support my candidacy by voting tomorrow, Nov. 5. Learn more at my campaign website. Thank you.
