The weather looks promising for Saturday, Oct. 31⎯Halloween! That’s great news for everyone planning on going to the Pumpkin Parade and Trick-or-Treating in Wilton Center, sponsored by the Wilton Chamber of Commerce. It’s always so fun to see friends and neighbors decked out in costumes, adults and kids alike. The festive costume parade and trick-or-treating in town runs 12-2 p.m.
But one of the best parts about this Wilton tradition actually starts 30 minutes earlier, right at the Gazebo on the Town Green, where the town festivities kick off. Wilton photographer Andrea Topalian, of Moments by Andrea Photography, hosts a Halloween Family Portrait Session to benefit the Wilton Community Assistance Fund.
For the 4th year in a row, Topalian will be donating her time and offers free Halloween portraits with a minimum donation of $20 to the Wilton Community Assistance Fund. Unbelievably, 100-percent of all donations go to the Wilton Community Assistance Fund to help Wilton families in need. Last year Topalian’s effort raised $2,500.
The pictures are adorable mementos of a wholesome, local tradition. Topalian shoots portraits in front of a festive fall scene, with everything donated by Young’s Nursery. Even better⎯it’s a true community effort, with raffle prizes that are donated by local businesses for people to bid on too. So far, there are items from Happy Hands Art & Pottery, Signature Style, Shaolin Studios, Four Seasons Racquet Club, Dermage Spa, River Road Gallery, Canine Company, Comprehensive Nutrition, the Wilton Family Y, Southern Yankee, and more.
We’ve got some images that Topalian took, from years past, but the best part to remember when you’re looking at them is that these pictures helped Andrea and the Wilton community raise more than $2,500 in 2014 alone. Just think what we all can do in under three hours Saturday afternoon.
Somehow, a gorgeous, sunny day with the promise of a treasure trove of candy just got even brighter and sweeter.
The portrait fundraiser starts at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Gazebo on the Town Green. First come, first served, the line starts forming early. To learn more, visit the Facebook event page. For a list of all the Halloween events in Wilton, click here.
