Join St. Matthew’s on Easter morning as we gather to celebrate in song, prayer, and fun! Come to church at 10 a.m. and stay for a huge Easter Egg hunt after the service.

Easter is an opportunity for all of us to begin anew. To start over. To start fresh. To carry forward what’s important, to let go of what isn’t, and to build relationships with God and with each other. Bring your whole self. Bring your questions and your doubts. Bring an open heart and an open mind. No matter who you are, no matter where you come from, no matter why or how you find yourself in Wilton, no matter who you love, or what color your skin is — no matter what: you are welcome. There is a place for you here with and at God’s table.

You can find our schedule for Holy Week on our website. Learn more about our music programs and concert series. Visit our website to learn more about our music programs, concert series, service opportunities and programming for kids and adults of all ages. We have a special event coming up on Sunday, April 28 that will celebrate the ordination of the first women Episcopal Priests — and one of those 11 women, the Rev. Dr. Carter Heyward will join us that day.

A longtime member and mom recently wrote this about our life together:

To come to St. Matt’s, you don’t have to be a perfect person or a perfect Christian. You just need a curiosity to know more. A desire to answer a spiritual need that cannot be answered anywhere else. Does the world leave you in despair or anxiety? Come for solace, for inspiration, for questioning, for community. Come to be welcomed. Come to find peace. You will be so glad you did.

What makes this place so special? There is a community of wonderful, warm and welcoming people engaged in terrific activities like Spirited Sisters (a women’s group), Sacred Ground (exploring racial and social justice), Coffee Hour in person and online, deep dives into the Gospel on Sundays in Lent, documentary screenings, adult forums, choir, varied and exciting musical concerts in the Arts at St. Matthew’s. Rev. Marissa is our amazing, modern, inspiring Priest. I thought when she joined six years ago, that I needed to be a fully formed Christian in order to participate in services and activities! Imagine my disbelief, astonishment and then delight as I heard her say that all who seek a deeper relationship with God are welcome at God’s table. There is so much to discover!

Easter is a magical time here. The Easter celebration is joyous and moving with uplifting music, beautiful flowers and altar, a stirring sermon. You are bound to start your Easter Sunday on the right note.

This is a place you need to visit. Not just once or twice for Palm Sunday and Easter, or Christmas. But over and over again.

And a new member and grandfather recently said this:

From the first time I walked into St. Matt’s I was genuinely welcomed. I only knew two people in the parish, yet I felt comfortable. I’ve come to know that it’s part of the DNA here… I’ve been to forums, again well attended, facilitated by Rev. Marissa that address tough issues of the day, bringing the gospels as part of the conversation. There are certainly different points of view, differences in what the gospels mean to each of us, and differences as to what Jesus is saying. These are healthy and sometimes tough conversations, discussed civilly with honesty and respect, with no attempt to bury the topics because they may be uncomfortable… We can agree to disagree while respecting others’ perspectives.

An Invitation

Whether this is your first time contemplating coming through our doors, or you haven’t been back in quite a while, you are welcome. Easter is a wonderful time to come and see. To begin again. To try on something new. And we would love to meet you and welcome you, to learn from you, to grow with you.

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church is located at 36 New Canaan Rd. in Wilton.
