The Wilton League of Women Voters, the Wilton Library, and GOOD Morning Wilton will cosponsor a forum presenting two debates between candidates running to represent Wilton in the CT State Legislature in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

The first debate will be between the candidates running for State Representative in the 42nd House District — Savet Constantine (D) and Kim Healy (R). The second debate will be between the candidates running for State Senator in the 26th Senate District — Kami Evans (R) and Ceci Maher (D)

The debates will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8 in the Brubeck Room of the Wilton Library. They will be live-streamed on GOOD Morning Wilton‘s website, and recorded for later viewing on both GOODMorningWilton.com, and on the Wilton Library website.

The Constantine/Healy debate will start at 7 p.m. for approximately one hour; the Evans/Maher debate will begin after a short break. Approximately 60 minutes will be allotted to constituent questions in both debates. Both events will follow a Cumulative Time Format and both will be moderated by a League of Women Voters-certified, out-of-town moderator who will present questions submitted by the public in written form.

The sessions will provide community members an opportunity to hear from the candidates who seek to serve in Hartford and make critical decisions facing the town in the coming years; and to pose questions to them that will highlight their goals and priorities. Questions for the candidates may be submitted in advance through the Wilton League of Women Voters by email no later than Monday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.

Written questions will also be accepted from the live audience in the Brubeck Room.

The League of Women Voters have established specific guidelines for submitting questions:

  • anonymous emails will not be accepted
  • only one question can be submitted per email
  • all questions must be applicable to all candidates and pertinent to local issues
  • questions targeted at one specific candidate will not be accepted.

All questions will be screened for legibility and duplication, and may be condensed or combined with other related or similar questions. All live-audience questions are subject to the same rules and must be submitted in writing.
