BOE Member Heather Priest Endorses Matt Raimondi for Board of Finance

Board of Education member Heather Priest submitted the following endorsement for Matt Raimondi, who is running for re-election to the Board of Finance:

I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Matt Raimondi during his time as chair of the Board of Finance, and I can say without hesitation that Wilton is better for his leadership. From day one, Matt has been a true partner: someone who listens, collaborates and follows through on what he says he’ll do.

What stands out most about Matt is his steadiness and clarity. He runs meetings that are focused and fair, where people are encouraged to share their views and decisions are made thoughtfully. Whether tackling revaluation, long-term capital planning, or a challenging budget cycle, Matt brings order to complexity and keeps everyone focused on results.

As someone who works regularly with him across boards, I’ve seen how Matt’s financial acumen and fiscal discipline elevate the entire process. He takes complicated budget issues and breaks them down into clear, actionable discussions that help everyone (including the public) understand the tradeoffs involved. His long-term approach reflects a deep commitment to sustainability and responsible financial stewardship.

Matt’s collaboration with the Board of Education has been especially valuable. He recognizes that strong schools are the cornerstone of a strong community, and he approaches education spending not as a cost to contain but as an investment to steward wisely. His fiscal discipline doesn’t come at the expense of progress; it ensures that every dollar spent delivers real value for students and taxpayers alike. That combination of rigor and respect has strengthened the relationship between our boards in meaningful ways.

Transparency and accountability aren’t talking points for Matt; they’re habits. He’s opened up the budget process through community surveys, public presentations, and an ongoing effort to make information accessible and clear. Within his own board, he encourages dialogue and ensures that every member has a voice. He values debate because he knows it leads to better outcomes.

Beyond the numbers, what impresses me most is Matt’s commitment to the community itself. Having grown up in Wilton, he approaches every decision with a long view — balancing the needs of schools, seniors, families and essential services with care and discipline. You can tell he genuinely loves this town and wants to leave it stronger for the next generation.

Matt Raimondi is a leader who combines integrity, expertise and action. He’s helped build bridges between boards, raised the bar for transparency, and set Wilton on a fiscally disciplined and sustainable path. I’m proud to call him a colleague and even prouder to support him for re-election.

BOF Member/Clerk Prasad Iyer Endorses Matt Raimondi for Board of Finance: “Continuity, Expertise and Willingness to Do the Work”

Board of Finance member Prasad Iyer submitted the following endorsement for Matt Raimondi, who is running for re-election to the Board of Finance:

I am writing to endorse Matt Raimondi for re-election to the Board of Finance.

Matt has served on the Board of Finance since 2021 and currently serves as chair. My endorsement for his re-election stems from four key attributes:

  1. Continuity — Matt’s experience and tenure with the Board of Finance enable him to provide essential stability and continuity in the budgeting process, especially important as other town boards and the town’s Finance Department undergo transition.
  2. Financial Modeling Expertise — He has leveraged his professional background and expertise in financial modeling to develop critical insights and scenario analysis for annual mill rate setting and determining the town’s debt capacity, giving Wilton invaluable tools for sound fiscal planning.
  3. Strong Work Ethic — Matt consistently rolls up his sleeves and puts in countless hours of hard work to support the town’s finances, going well beyond the expectations of the role.
  4. Commitment to Wilton — Matt was born and raised in Wilton and chose to return with his wife to build their life here. His commitment to giving back is evident through his service on the Economic Development Commission and now the Board of Finance.

We are fortunate to have Matt on the Board of Finance, and I look forward to working alongside him in the years to come. He is an outstanding candidate for Wilton’s Board of Finance and has my strongest recommendation.
