From Wilderness to Wilton: A Tour of Its Early Homes
Ridgefield Rd., Belden Hill Rd., and Shadow Ln. are some of the streets in Wilton that went from wilderness to parish to town. Histoury, a company specializing in historical tours, offers a journey down these roads and more in a celebration of Wilton’s colonial-era architecture.
From the comfort of charter buses, participants will discover the historical beauty of some 30 buildings, and have the opportunity to tour the interior of several of these homes, complete with original 18th-century details and stylish decor. Some of the homes to be explored belonged to several of Wilton’s founding families, including the Ketchums, Keelers, and Olmsteads, and are defined by the Georgian and Federal styles.
Stay for the post-tour reception! The Wilton Historical Society has provided its headquarters at 224 Danbury Rd. for the reception, as well as the departure point of the tour.
