The Wilton Garden Club, Wilton Go Green, and the Wilton Conservation Commission are teaming up to offer a series of gardening workshops.
March 2: Winter Seed Sowing
Anne Djupedal Gura and Wayne Gura, co-chairs of the Wilton Garden Club Conservation Committee, will help you support the environment by making a mini greenhouse where you will sow native plant seeds to take home and care for over the winter.
March 9: Pollinator Pathways & Growing Your Own Natives
Jackie Algon, Wilton Garden Club member and chair of the Wilton Conservation Commission, will teach you about the different types of pollinators and their importance. You will learn about the Pollinator Pathway and how to get on it!
Dave Havens, a retired science teacher from St. Luke’s School, a Wilton Go Green board member, and vice president of the Norwalk River Watershed Association, will show you how to upcycle to make your own growing pots where you will grow native, pollinator-friendly flowers or vegetables to bring home.
March 16: Garden Art & Floral Arranging
Dana Wolfson, Wilton Garden Club member and local art teacher, will lead you through a few garden art projects using recycled materials that you have around the house.
Gretchen Kilmartin and Michelle Klink, Wilton Garden Club members, will teach you some simple floral arranging techniques. You get to take your arrangement home with you!
March 23: Recycling, Zero Waste & Backyard Composting
Tammy Thornton, president of Wilton Go Green, will take you through food and household items that can be recycled. There is so much to learn about how to properly recycle. Also, learn about the new food scrap recycling initiative and how you can get your kit.
Jackie Algon, Wilton Garden Club member and chair of the Wilton Conservation Commission, will talk to you about backyard composting. You will meet her pet worms and see how they are making their own compost!
$50 for the entire series. Open to non-member.
