History of the Yankees: A Baseball Celebration

September 20 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

FREE

The greatest franchise in American sports history will be celebrated by award-winning sportswriter and author of The Ultimate New York Yankees Time Machine Book, Marty Gitlin. This Wilton Library program highlights exciting and nostalgic videos of the finest teams, players, moments and events in Yankees history, even going back to the days of the Highlanders – from the pre-Ruthian era to today. The program also features Yankees trivia questions for patrons to ponder and covers the best of the best, including Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, Ford, Jeter, Rivera and Judge while spotlighting the top teams of the long Yankees dynasty from the 1920s to the 1960s and beyond. This presentation is a lot of fun so please join us in the Brubeck Room!

Gitlin covered Major League Baseball as a sportswriter for two decades and won more than 45 awards, including first place for general excellence from the Associated Press for coverage of the World Series. He has authored many sports books, including The Ultimate New York Yankees Time Machine Book and The Ultimate Boston Red Sox Time Machine Book. Those books are the only ones that cover the entire history of those franchises from well over a century.

Registration is required. Please register online or call 203.762.6334. For more information, email Andrea Sato.
