How to Explain an ADHD/ASD/LD Diagnosis and Build Self-Esteem: A Guide for Addressing and Fighting Stigma

May 6, 2024 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Free

SPED*NET in partnership with Wilton Library, Wilton Public Schools, and Newtown Sped PTA presents this presentation and discussion.

While the disability community has come a long way, there still exists stigmas associated with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Learning Disabilities (LD) and co-occurring conditions. In trying to protect kids from these social stigmas, many parents unwittingly perpetuate them.

Robert Tudisco, Esq., a nationally recognized author, attorney, and motivational speaker, will discuss the nature of stigma. He will address specific strategies to educate friends, family, the community, and the public with a view toward dissolving traditional social stigmas and enhancing the delicate sense of self-esteem that many kids with special needs experience.
