Is Your Daughter Safe? “Her-Self Awareness Lecture”

October 10, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The Wilton Domestic Violence Task Force, Wilton Teen PeaceWorks and Wilton Library are co-hosting “Is Your Daughter Safe? The Her-Self Awareness Lecture” about safety for young women, and featuring the mother of a teen girl murdered in CT.

Donna Cimarelli, CEO and co-founder of the Maren Sanchez Foundation, is the mother of Maren Sanchez, a Milford, CT teenager who died after being stabbed by an obsessed classmate in 2014.

This presentation, “Her-Self Awareness Lecture” trains young people on how to use situational awareness to identify pre-incident indicators that can result in dangerous situations. The presentation also provides strategies on how to be an informed and active bystander to thwart what could potentially be a dangerous situation. The goal is to teach young women and girls how to trust and follow their instincts and pay attention to that gut feeling.

The lecture on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wilton Library, is for teens, parents, grandparents and other members of the community to have the opportunity to hear Cimarelli’s story and benefit from her wisdom. For more details and to register, visit the Wilton Library website or call 203.762.6334.

There is no charge but registration is recommended.
