Purposeful Play and Why It’s Important for Learning

Please join the Wilton Library via Zoom for an interactive and informative experience on the importance of play in children’s development and how parents can play more intentionally with their children. The session will run from 10 a.m.-11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26.
Through play, children learn how to engage and interact successfully in the world around them. Play is, in fact, a critical vehicle through which children achieve healthy developmental milestones. In theory, playing with our children sounds like it should be easy: there are no rules; there is no script. But, in reality, the art of play can be overwhelming and confusing, especially when the children have not yet developed foundational people-, play- or group skills.
In this session, Meghan Cave, BCBA, co-founder of The Hangout Spot, LLC, Connecticut’s first behavior analytic social skills development center, will outline actionable steps parents can follow to play along with their children, promoting social success and meaningful learning along the way.
Registration required. No charge for the program. This program is co-sponsored by Wilton Library, SPED*NET, Wilton Youth Council‘s Free Play Matters Task Force, and Wilton Public Schools.
