Screening: The Philadelphia Eleven

April 28 @ 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Free

St. Matthew’s, the Episcopal Church in Wilton, will hold a special screening of a new documentary about the first eleven women who were ordained in the Episcopal Church. This is a fascinating story about women who changed the world around them. It’s a story about the resistance they met and how they overcame it. And it’s a story about their legacy. You can read more about the film online.

One of the eleven, the Rev. Dr. Carter Heyward, will join. Not only one of these original eleven, Heyward is also a feminist theologian with a wide scope of influence and interests. Read more about Heward here.

The Rev. Dr. will preach at the 10 a.m. worship service at St. Matthew’s. The screening will then be at 2 p.m. followed by a conversation with Heyward. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
