The Importance of Student Well-Being & Play in Schools

November 27, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Free

Wilton Youth Council’s Free Play Matters Task Force is pleased to announce that Dr. Michael Hynes, advocate for free play in schools, is visiting Wilton!

Don’t miss this thought-provoking discussion of societal trends in education, how we measure success, the importance of recess and free play, and the risks of over-scheduling. Dr. Hynes recently visited Finland and will also share what he learned about the Finnish philosophy and approach to education.

Dr. Hynes is the Superintendent of Schools of the Patchogue-Medford school district in New York. He is a public-school advocate who has built enthusiasm in his community for the importance of play and recess in schools and yoga and mindfulness in the classroom.

You are sure to leave inspired by the possibilities!

** Please be advised, a video crew will be present to record the discussion in connection with the production of a documentary film featuring the themes of childhood and play. A section of the theatre will be reserved for those who do not wish to be filmed. **

Admission is free. Registration is recommended at MichaelHynesWilton.eventbrite.com. Please email Vanessa Elias with questions.
