The Nest Big Thing: A Birdhouse Building Competition (Ambler Farm vs. Weston’s Lachat Town Farm)

Welcome the return of spring by designing and building a birdhouse for our feathered friends! Join Ambler Farm for this friendly competition with neighbor Lachat Town Farm in Weston.

Build a birdhouse with your own materials or choose from scrap materials provided by Rings End at one of our optional Building Workshop sessions. The sky’s the limit on creativity! Families, organizations, clubs, individuals and teams are welcome. Once complete, your work-of-art will be hung at Ambler Farm or Lachat Town Farm, where visitors will vote on their favorites.

Advance registration is required by April 24.

• Saturday, March 14:  Building Workshop at Lachat Town Farm (optional)
• Saturday, March 21, 10 a.m.:  Building Workshop at Ambler Farm (optional)
• April 24 – April 26:  Submit finished birdhouse to your local farm. Registrants and anyone who visits the farms over the next 8-plus weeks will have the opportunity to view hung birdhouses and vote on their favorites.
• July 1: Winners Announced

Cost: $50 to participate, which includes an optional building workshop, scrap materials provided by Rings End (optional), and your birdhouse hung at one of the farms for two months while visitors vote for their favorites. Winners will receive gift certificates to both farms.

Proceeds from The Nest Big Thing will help support Ambler Farm’s educational and community programs.
