Weekend Workshops – Veterans Day

Originally known as Armistice Day to commemorate the end of World War I, Veterans Day is a federal holiday in the United States observed on November 11 for honoring military veterans of the United States. A Congressional Act approved on May 13, 1938, made November 11 a legal holiday dedicated to America’s veterans for their willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
On Saturday, November 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the Wilton Historical Society will hold a Wreath Making Workshop for kids in celebration of Veteran’s Day. Each participant will assemble a decorative wreath adorned with burlap and cranberries, while Museum Educator Catherine Lipper discusses the significance and history of the holiday in the United States.
