[Wilton Reads] Wilton History Film Screening — Recollections & Remembrances: Stories of Wilton’s Yesterdays (In-Person)

April 23 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Please join Wilton Library for a trip down memory lane as we screen the 2002 documentary film about Wilton’s history, produced on the 200th anniversary of the town’s separation from Norwalk in 1802, when Wilton was a farm town with one-room schools, unpaved roads and swimming in the river.

Oral historians interviewed long-time residents, some with family histories going back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Filmmakers then combined their footage with historical photographs to create this wonderful film. Narrated by David and Maureen Canary with music by Chris and Dave Brubeck, the film follows Wilton’s path from its early roots through two world wars, the Depression, a major hurricane and a flood and into the post-WWII period of growth. We’ll see how Wiltonians worked, played, and thrived in a rural farming town that became a major suburban community.

Registration is required. To register, visit the Wilton Library website.
