At Thursday’s, June 9 utility pole work-site accident on Rivergate Dr., an Eversource subcontractor identified as Marcos Silva (aka Marcos DaSilva), age 44 of Danbury, was killed, according to a news release issued by the Wilton Police Department. Wilton Police were notified following the Thursday incident by Norwalk Hospital that the victim was unable to be resuscitated and was pronounced dead.

Silva was employed at the time of the incident by KTI Utility Construction of Wilton. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy Friday and determined the cause of death as electrocution.

An earlier news release stated that a preliminary Wilton Police Department investigation showed that a KTI employee was in the process of placing a utility pole when one of the workers on the ground went down to the ground from a standing position for an unknown reason. The investigation focused on the possibility of an electrical related incident.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Wilton Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call concerning a medical emergency in the area of 31 Rivergate Dr. involving a utility worker. Wilton Police, Fire, EMS and Wilton CERT were dispatched and the victim was subsequently transported by WVAC to Norwalk Hospital.

No further information is expected to be released from the Wilton Police Department, however the case remains open at this time. A follow-up investigation is being conducted by the Wilton Police Department, in conjunction with OSHA and Eversource Energy.
