For 84 years, the Minks to Sinks Sale has opened rain or shine, offering shoppers bargains on thousands of new and gently used merchandise, including kitchen and household items, gardening and sports equipment, indoor and outdoor furniture, kids toys, electronics, lamps, artwork, books, seasonal clothing and much more – even minks and sinks. More than 190 volunteers have been working tirelessly all week, unloading, sorting, pricing, organizing and displaying these items, to prepare for the 2015 Fall Minks to Sinks sale, which opens this Saturday, Oct. 3rd at 9 a.m..

The 2015 Minks to Sinks co-chairs, Laura Hussey and Charlotte Ackerman note that the sale has expanded to include a fifth tent and a collectibles area to accommodate more merchandise and make it even easier for people to find what they are looking for. Shoppers are just as likely to find a Waterford vase or antique pewter pitcher in the collectibles area as well as top quality name brand merchandise such as Cuisinart, KitchenAid, Black & Decker, Lillian August, Ethan Allen, Trek, Specialized, J. Crew, Ann Taylor, Brooks Brothers and Patagonia for sale, all at bargain prices. No wonder Minks to Sinks is called “the biggest treasure hunt in town.” Minks to Sinks has also become an institution, not just for residents of Wilton, but for people who live in neighboring states, and make the trip to Wilton every fall and spring to shop for deals.

The proceeds of Minks to Sinks benefit Family and Children’s Agency, the Norwalk-based non-profit organization that offers any important programs to help families in need. Hussey and Ackerman also note that Minks to Sinks has been supporting recycling and reusing, and has been doing so for years before the phrase “reduce, reuse, recycle” became an environmental mantra. “The sale is a win-win for everyone,” explains Hussey.

The Minks to Sinks Fall sale opens at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. Bargain days are Sunday, Oct. 4 from noon-4 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m.–noon.
