Trackside Teen Center will offer a free college essay workshop on Tuesday, Aug. 28, and Thursday, Sept. 27, from 7-8 p.m., led by Carolyn Field. An experienced college essay consultant, Field has worked with many students in the tri-state area over the years.
In the workshop, Field will review and provide insight into the 2018/2019 Common Application essay prompts and guidance on brainstorming for a compelling topic; review pitfalls to avoid; and share examples of effective essays written by former high school seniors. She will also read workshop attendees’ essays and provide comments.
“The college essays are often students’ only chance to speak directly to the admissions staff and share something meaningful about themselves in their own words,” Field explains. “I love working with students. My role is to help de-stress the process so they can write essays they’re proud of and that provide the admissions staff with positive and invaluable insights.”
Both the August and September college essay workshops are free, but space is limited, so reservations are recommended and a suggested donation of $10 to benefit Trackside Teen Center of Wilton will be accepted. Although the workshop is intended for rising high school seniors, parents are also welcome to attend. For more information or to reserve a space, please call Mark Ketley at Trackside at 203.834.2888 or visit the Trackside website.
