The 2026 election season is underway, and on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, Wilton will go to the polls to cast votes in this year’s elections (or fill out their ballots during early voting or by absentee voting).

We always focus on the hyperlocal stories, concentrating our coverage on candidates and issues directly impacting Wilton. While larger matters on the federal and statewide level are certainly critical this election cycle (ahem, this year’s midterm elections), we feel there are certainly other news outlets that will do a great job helping residents learn about those races and candidates — governor, U.S. representative, and state offices.

Our main focus this year will be on the races where the winners will have the most direct impact on a local level — state senator (26th district) and state representative (42nd district). Just as important, GOOD Morning Wilton will make sure you know everything you need to know to cast your ballot as a Wilton voter.

We encourage participation by Wilton residents and want to make sure we do everything possible to provide you with the opportunity to take an active role in the democratic process.

Each year we publish our policies regarding editorial coverage and advertising for the weeks leading up to the elections. We share these policies to be completely transparent about how GOOD Morning Wilton makes sure to be fair, open and available to the candidates, campaigns and, most importantly, the public.

Elections are vital — they’re arguably the single most important part of our democracy, especially when you strip away partisanship, rhetoric and divisiveness.

This is GOOD Morning Wilton‘s 13th year covering elections. Our approach has been developed and strengthened over the last decade-plus, and this post lays out our policies and guidelines for how we’ll cover the elections and work with the candidates and campaigns — and, perhaps most importantly, share what readers need to know in order to participate.

There are multiple ways for residents to take part in the election process, ranging from writing letters to the editor to simply reading what we publish to learn about and closely follow the issues.

Our document below explains how you can participate with GOOD Morning Wilton and lets you see what rules we’ve laid out for the candidates in order to keep our coverage transparent for readers.

Whatever the need, always feel free to reach out to GOOD Morning Wilton‘s editor and publisher, Heather Borden Herve, via email, with questions or to discuss our coverage.

Editor’s note: This public document is the same exact document sent to the Wilton Democratic and Republican Town Committees — except the link for candidates to access GMW‘s “Candidate Information Form” is not live in this public pdf.
