Ret. Wilton Firefighter Dave Chaloux Receives CT Union Leadership Award

Retired Wilton firefighter Dave Chaloux was recently presented with the prestigious Santo J. Alleano Leadership Award, by the Uniformed Professional Firefighters of Connecticut. (UPFFA), an award for past union presidents who exemplify the spirit of union activism through integrity, leadership and dedication.

“Dave dedicated over 20 years as a Union leader for Local 2233 and was a well deserved recipient for this award,” Wilton Firefighters Local 2233 Secretary Daniel Tatun told GMW

In his nomination letter, current Wilton Union President Gary Mandel wrote that Chaloux epitomized the spirit of union activism throughout his distinguished 25-year career.

“The progress the Union has made over Dave’s career on the Executive Board is truly transformative. He has overseen growth of a doubling of Union membership, diversity in terms of race, gender and age. As a result, members’ needs became more diverse and complex. Throughout the changes, his stewardship and calming tone created an aura of dependability, and he has the members’ utmost respect and appreciation,” Mandel wrote.

Born and raised in Wilton, Chaloux graduated from Wilton schools and served the community, first as a volunteer firefighter and later as a career firefighter.

“Dave was a role model for the Wilton Fire Department. His dedication and commitment were unmatched,” Mandel added.

Members of the Wilton Firefighters Local 2233 union attended the 24th Peter S. Carozza Biennial Convention of the UPFFA at Foxwoods to honor Dave Chaloux during the presentation of the award. Congratulations to Wild Child, Wilton Police and Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corp on an amazing Toy Drive

The Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Wilton Police Department partnered with Wilton’s Wild Child toy store for a toy drive to benefit local Wilton families in need through Wilton Social Services. The items that were donated filled a cell at the police station. That’s incredible!
