GOOD To Go to the Fair: Sunday’s Annual Cannon Grange Agricultural Fair Celebrates Wilton’s Agricultural History and Community
The Cannon Grange is hosting its 93rd Annual Agricultural Fair on Sunday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Grange Hall (25 Cannon Rd.).
The fair promises a full day of community fun, contests and creativity, in what organizers proudly call “the sweetest little fair in the area.”
Each year the fair celebrates Wilton’s agricultural heritage, community strength and resourcefulness. For this year’s “America 250” milestone, the Grange adds timeless American virtues of land stewardship, independence and local community action to the celebration.
Visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy the Grange’s popular adult and junior competitions in a variety of agricultural, horticultural, culinary and handcrafted categories, including baking, pickling, florals, fruits and vegetables, arts and crafts, woodworking, sewing and needlework, photography, eggs and much more.
The fair will also feature local nonprofit organizations sharing information about their missions, local artisans and vendors offering handcrafted and artistic products, live musical entertainment and food.
Visitors should be aware of the ongoing Cannon Bridge construction project, preventing access from Cannon and Pimpewaug Rds. (where parking is prohibited) on the east side of the bridge. All vehicle traffic is via Danbury Rd./Rte. 7. Free parking is available at the Cannondale Train Station across from the Grange.
Admission is $2 per person — visitors under 2 years old are free. (Pets or animals are not permitted per State Grange regulations.)

GOOD To Roar: CT United Ride to Pass Through Wilton to Honor 9/11 First Responders
On Sunday, Aug. 30, the CT United Ride and its more than 1,000 motorcycles, will roar through Wilton as part of the ride’s multi-town caravan honoring 9/11 first responders and their families.
Riders will arrive at the Westport town line on Westport Rd./Rte. 33, and will continue northbound on Danbury Rd./Rte. 7. Once the riders reach Rte. 7, all northbound traffic will be closed as the motorcycle procession, led by the Connecticut State Police, makes its way to Georgetown.
Wilton Police expect the road closure to start at 11:45 a.m. and last approximately 45 minutes. Police and Wilton CERT members will be on hand to assist with closing intersections. Anyone needing to travel during this time should make alternate arrangements and avoid Danbury Rd./Rte. 7 between Westport Rd./Rte. 33 to Rte. 107/Georgetown.

GOOD To Reminisce: Walter Schalk to Hold Autobiography Booksigning
Walter Schalk ran a dance school in Wilton for 62 years and now the legendary dance instructor, who estimates over 160,000 students took classes at his school, is telling his life story in a new autobiography, Born to Dance.
Schalk will be holding court and signing books at Red Rooster Pub (10 Center St.) on Sunday, Aug. 30, from 4-6 p.m.
