GOOD To Tea & Tour: ABC of Wilton Scholar Residence Open for Tours During Street Fair

A Better Chance of Wilton is inviting the community to a “Tea & Tour Open House” at the ABC of Wilton Girls Scholar Residence during the annual Wilton Street Fair.

Members of the public are welcome to stop by on Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. for some iced tea and the chance to see the residence at 6 Godfrey Pl. that the Scholars call home for their four years attending Wilton High School.

This year marks A Better Chance’s 30th anniversary of creating opportunity here in Wilton. Over the past three decades, more than 58 motivated and driven Scholars from underserved and under‑resourced communities have come to Wilton for “A Better Chance” and have graduated from the program.

During their four years, Scholars live in the residence with a resident director and work closely with an academic coordinator, building a strong foundation for success after graduation.

Their experience extends far beyond academics. Scholars are immersed in the Wilton community through life‑skills development, community service and host‑family weekends. By the time they graduate, these inspiring young women are confident, prepared, and ready for the future.

GOOD To Go Vroom! Vroom!: Kiwanis Hosts 2026 Classic Car Show Friday, July 10th

For 25 years the Wilton Kiwanis Club has offered community members a trip back to the past to view the cars of their dreams. Anyone lucky enough to actually drive one in their youth or who grew up hearing about them from friends or relatives now has the chance to see these classic cars up close at the Kiwanis 2026 Classic and Custom Car Show.

The show takes place from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Piersall Building (44 Old Ridgefield Rd.) in Wilton Center. Admission is free, and attendees will have the option to purchase hot dogs, hamburgers and cold beverages upon entry. All proceeds raised by the Wilton Kiwanis Club, now celebrating its 75th anniversary, will directly benefit local charities and nonprofits. Under the leadership of Kiwanian Kevin Craw, this event honors the memory of Tom “Geeb” Fleming. A Wilton Kiwanis Club member, Fleming started the club’s Classic & Custom Car Show to give local car enthusiasts a place to share their passion with the town.

GOOD To Reroute: New Canaan Rd. Detours Continue through July

Aquarion has released a tentative schedule for the company’s continuing road construction work on New Canaan Rd./Rte. 106. (The timelines provided are an estimate of the duration of the work and is weather dependent.)

Starting June 29, Aquarion will be working on New Canaan Rd. between Katydid Ln. and Trails End Rd.

  • Week of June 29 — Removal of 9 inches of asphalt
  • Week of July 6 — Paving (7 inches of asphalt)

Starting July 13, work will move to the area between Trails End Rd. and Old Kings Hwy.

  • Week of July 13 — Removal of 9 inches of asphalt
  • Week of July 20 — Paving (7 inches of asphalt)

Upon completion of the work, the contractor will communicate the schedule for placement of the final 2-inch asphalt surface course.

The detour route will run via Old Boston Rd. and Old Kings Hwy. Normal construction hours will be from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. However, officials said that construction hours may be adjusted to 7 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday work may be required “to encourage a timelier completion of the project in our neighborhoods.”

Officials have asked that residents living in the project area allow extra time to enter/exit the respective work zones and coordinate with traffic control for access to their property. All bus stops will remain at their current locations. Emergency vehicles will be granted immediate access through the work areas.
